Under the current charter, the City Manager has &#8220;general supervision and control&#8221; over the Police Chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moss proposed amending the charter to give the<strong> Police Chief sole supervision and control of the Police Department,<\/strong> which is the same level of authority currently held by the city&#8217;s Fire Chief.
